Understanding Your State Government
USOLMT is a step above other organizations when it comes to Government Relations. Rather than listing each state's requirements/laws/regulations for Massage Therapists, we are dedicated to educating Massage Therapists on the Legislative Process for each state. Throughout this section, you will find important information and resources for your legislative procedures and how this directly affects your position as a Massage therapist.

Legislative Procedures
- Each state has systematic Legislative Procedures. Understanding those procedures is important as a Massage Therapist.
- When Bills are presented that will affect your career, it is imperative that you have a voice and know where to share that voice.
- The NSCL (National Conference of State Legislatures) explains this process and educates citizens on "Learning the Game".
- You can also register to receive notification in most states to stay up-to-date on bills that contain language for your Agency Board, Licensing Authority, and Government Affairs regarding Massage Therapy.
- Some states allow citizens to appear in public hearings, and some states allow citizens to submit opinions directly to the committee. Whatever the case may be, educating yourself on these procedures is important.
