The USOLMT Leadership Council (Board of Directors) is comprised of nine volunteer positions. Each volunteer is asked to serve no more than two hours per week as we work towards transitioning from the startup phase to the growth phase of our organization. Before USOLMT becomes incorporated, we would like to fill each officer position.
You may be considered for a leadership position with as little as one year experience from the date of your original license. We know that young people entering our field and new graduates are the future of massage therapy. Our leadership council training program will provide you with valuable skills you can use in all aspects of your career.
To qualify you must be open-minded, forward-thinking and a great listener. We seek leaders who are visionary, transformative, and who can consider all sides of a situation before making decisions. Our council members strive to find solutions to the issues we face and work towards positive outcomes that are beneficial to all. We rely heavily on feedback from the massage community and seek to promote what is best for the collective.
The onboarding process includes completion of an online application, virtual interview with the Executive Director and other council members, a review of qualifications, professional background check, licensure verification, and reference check. Prior to taking office, leaders must attend a virtual orientation with the founder, sign a formal volunteer agreement, pledge to uphold the mission and display the values of our organization. The first board will be appointed for a term of two years, whose main focus will be to grow the organization. After that time, the board will be elected by the members.

Leadership Council members must have:
1. A Massage Therapy Certification – at least 500 hours of basic massage education
2. Be Actively Licensed, Registered with or Certified by a Governing Board
3. At least 1 year of experience as a Massage Therapist in the United States
4. Basic Computer Skills & Internet Access is Required
Executive Assistant
The executive assistant will serve as the administrative assistant to all other leadership council members. Administrative assistant / receptionist skill set and knowledge of social media management is helpful in this position.
Secretary / Treasurer
The Secretary / Treasurer is responsible for keeping the financial records of the organization, recording the minutes of all leadership council meetings, and for overseeing the budget and accounting of the organization.
Director of Membership
The Director of Membership is responsible for developing welcoming programs for new members. This position will heavily focus on list building, recruiting, and outreach. Working within or establishing a membership model of a community, volunteer organization, business or association is helpful in this position.
Director of Campaigns
The Director of Campaigns is responsible for analyzing the engagement on our social platform, identifying campaigns for change based on community feedback and creating organizing campaigns across multiple platforms. This person should have the ability to inspire, organize, and mobilize people to act. An extroverted personality type with skills of persuasion and motivation are needed in this position.
Director of Resources & Goodwill
The Director of Resources & Goodwill will be responsible for developing toolkits, graphics, and downloadable free resources for our community and our members and for overseeing our Goodwill fund. This person should be highly resourceful, able to research and locate information quickly, and have the ability to produce high-quality written and graphic content.
Director of Fundraising
The Director of Fundraising will be responsible for soliciting major donor support, organizing fundraising events and securing sponsors. Should have some knowledge or experience in prior fundraising activities, and the ability to coordinate virtual events.
Director of Government Relations
The Director of Government Relations will be responsible for overseeing and developing advocacy programs and relationships that further these programs. Should have some knowledge in policy, political science, social justice, and advocacy experience.

Honorary Council Members
If you are unable to be a working volunteer member of the council due to time constraints, consider becoming an honorary member! Honorary members will be asked to attend 4 meetings and the annual conference, and to simply advise as needed throughout the year.
